The Baltimore City OEM incorporates community input, perspectives, and priorities into its emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities. There are two primary ways to get involved with OEM activities, volunteering and attending meetings.
The Baltimore City CERT is a training and volunteer program that prepares residents to protect themselves, their families, and their communities before, during, and after emergencies. CERT members receive training regarding basic disaster prevention, preparation, and response skills, such as fire safety, basic search and rescue, team organization, communications, and emergency medical procedures.
Are you interested in joining a national network of volunteer severe weather spotters? The National Weather Service and OEM periodically co-host SKYWARN® courses for City residents.
The Baltimore City LEPC meets to discuss all-hazards preparedness and coordinate planning for hazardous materials incident response in the City. The meetings are open to citizens, businesses, public and government agencies.
